Federal Surplus Commodities Corporation
   The Federal Surplus Commodities Corporation was created in 1935 and replaced by the Farm Surplus Relief Corporation established in 1933 to purchase surplus farm produce to distribute among the needy. By 1940, 3 million families had received food through this assistance program.
