Federal Security Agency

Federal Security Agency
Established under the Reorganization Plan of 1939, the Federal Security Agency brought a number of agencies, including the Social Security Board, Public Health Service, U.S. Office of Education, National Youth Administration, Civilian Conservation Corps, and U.S. Employment Service, together under one body, headed by Paul V. McNutt. In 1953, the Federal Security Agency was subsumed within the cabinet-level Department of Health, Education, and Welfare.
