Allied High Commission

Allied High Commission
Following the breakdown of relations with the Soviet Union and the withdrawal of their representative on the Allied Control Council in 1948, an Allied High Commission consisting of the United States, Great Britain, and France was established to run West Germany and West Berlin. The commission was disbanded when West Germany became independent as the Federal Republic of Germany.
