- White House Conference On The Emergency Needs Of Women
Held under the aegis of Eleanor Roosevelt in November 1933, the White House Conference on the Emergency Needs of Women recognized that the Great Depression had an enormously negative impact on women in employment and in the home. Representatives of such women’s organizations as the League of Women Voters and Women’s Trade Union League, as well as from the Red Cross and National Consumer’s League, considered the need for work projects for women and greater federal representation and funding.
