(334 U.S. 131 1948)
Also known as the Hollywood Antitrust Case, in United States v. Paramount Pictures, Inc. et al. on 3 May 1948 the Supreme Court ruled by 8-0 in favor of the government and against the film studios in declaring that their control of movie theaters constituted a monopoly. The theaters were subsequently able to show films from whichever studio they wished, further contributing to the decline of the studio system.
