Federal Public Housing Authority
   The Federal Public Housing Authority was created within the National Housing Agency in 1942 and replaced the United States Housing Authority. Its function was to fund slum clearance and encourage the building of low-cost public housing, particularly during the war emergency. It built a total of 840,000 homes at a cost of $2.3 billion.
