Columbia River Project
Established by Congress in September 1933, the Columbia River Project created a Columbia River Authority, like the Tennessee Valley Authority, to provide hydroelectric power and irrigation to surrounding states in the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, and Idaho) through the building of the Bonneville Dam, completed in 1937, and Grand Coulee Dam, completed in 1942.
